Laser Hair Removal
WHY LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
If you desire smooth, soft, silky skin, LASER HAIR REMOVAL is the solution! If you’re not happy with shaving, tweezing, or waxing to remove unwanted and ingrowing hair, laser hair removal may be an option worth considering.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures in nowadays. It beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles. Pigment in the follicles absorbs the light. The light destroys the hair and the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue, in such a way to inhibit regrowth.
IS THE TREATMENT SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?
The general rule is that the hair color should be darker than the skin color. Treatment is most effective when there is a good contrast between the hair color and skin color- making black hair in pale skin the ideal combination to treat. Blonde, red, or grey hair responds less well to the treatment. Clients who are pregnant are not ideal for treatment because of the hormonal and pigmentary changes that can occur during pregnancy.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
It is recommended a minimum of 6-8 sessions depends on each person. Hair growth cycle varies in different areas of the body and it is affected by the ethnic origin, age and hormones. Depending on this factors some clients may need more or less treatment because each individual will respond differently to a treatment.

The hair has 3 stages of growth: Anagen: Active growth phase Catagen: Regressive phase Telogen: Resting phase At the same time we have hair on the body in all 3 stages of growing. Hair removal is thought to be most effective when the hair is actively growing, so on every session the light energy will only damages the growing hairs permanently but not those that are resting or shedding. This is why is recommended to have more than one session.
WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
Most areas can be treated if the hair and skin type are suitable. The most common areas for treatment are legs, back, underarms, bikini area, chin, top lip, beard area, chest and abdomen.
HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE?
This depends on which area you are treating and on the spot size of the treatment beam. A small area such as a top lip can take a few minutes whilst full legs might take up to 45 min/hour.
IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
The cooling air device attached makes the treatment feel comfortable.
HOW DO I LOOK AFTER THE HAIR BETWEEN THE SESSIONS?
Shaving or trimming is recommended between treatments. Is not allowed to pluck or wax because these methods pull the hair from the follicle- and this is thought to make treatment less effective.
WHAT IS A PATCH TEST?
A patch test is a small trial in the area you want to treat. Typically a few discrete pulses are delivered to the skin to determine skin reaction and starting treatment parameters. If there is no adverse reaction after one week (up to 2/ 4 weeks for dark skin)- then the treatment can start.
POST-TREATMENT CARE
CONTRA-INDICATION/ CONTRA-ACTION
After the laser and/or IPL hair removal please make sure that:
use aloe Vera gel to cool down the skin
Or cold compress
DO NOT USEice straight on the skin
Use SPF cream to avoid sun burns and discoloration of the skin (hipo/hyper pigmentation)
Avoid using hot bath, steam room, sauna, swimming, intense workout and any activities who increases the body temperatures in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Do not use sun beds, tanning lotions during the laser or IPL treatment. The treatment is less efficient and temporary or permanent discoloration of the skin may occur.
DO NOT wax, pluck, thread the treated area, ONLY shaving or trimming are allowed between sessions.
Reactions after laser/IPL hair removal treatment like redness, swelling around the follicle, irritation are normal and they should disappear in maximum of 48 hours. If you see any abnormal conditions please contact the salon for more information and advice.

Nd:YAG lasers are solid state lasers. They work at wavelengths of 1064nm, which is within the infrared area of the light spectrum. They not only work at this wavelength, but can also work in a double frequency mode which creates green light at 532nm wavelengths. Nd:YAG laser hair removal systems are effective on all skin types, including Asian skin tones, which is something that other laser hair removal systems are unable to do. This laser treatment also has a fast rate of repetition and can be used on larger areas of skin.
